WUI (Writing under the influence)

Somebody once said we are all Americans, sometimes born in the wrong places.
On a warm autumn day in 1986, while enjoying beer with my college buddies,
I decided to join my new homeland.

I've come to appreciate the ideals that helped create this great country.
Liberalism, political-correctness, multiculturalism and moral equivalence
are destroying it.

Democrats’ strategy is very simple: regulate free markets so they eventually fail, then blame the capitalism and the lack of regulations (how Orwellian!) for the failures. Of course, whatever schemes Democrats cook up to replace free market ideas are order of magnitude worse and have to be paid for with huge tax increases. And although regulations and taxes weight heavy on the economy, creating longer and deeper recessions with higher and higher unemployment, these new programs give Democrats ever-growing constituency: the dependent class.

People with no ambitions, no self respect, always looking to government for directions on how to live their lives vote for Democrats in huge numbers. Democrats have to pay them off after each election. FDR gave them Social Security, Truman school lunches, LBJ Medicare, and now Obama is trying to give them “free” health care.

In each case, Democrats try to convince us that their schemes will be better and less expensive than the free market alternatives. But invariably those programs have to be propped up with more taxes and more regulations to eliminate any competition free markets could offer.

But if more taxes and regulation really worked, the state of California would be a model of the socialist utopia Democrats have been promising us since FDR. Instead, California is about to go bankrupt. And the US will also go bankrupt unless we stop this madness.

It won’t be easy. Too many of us are hooked on the government opiates and withdrawal could be very painful. But we can do it. Yes, we can! We can again provide for ourselves. We can again be a proud and free nation.

So before you jump on Democrats’ latest bandwagon, consider this. A typical family would pay under $300 a month for a high-deductible health insurance. The price could even be lower if we got rid of many unnecessary regulations that make everything more expensive.

So disconnect your cable, ditch that cell phone, brew your own coffee and pretty soon you will realize you can afford to take care of yourself without asking your neighbors to do it for you.
