WUI (Writing under the influence)

Somebody once said we are all Americans, sometimes born in the wrong places.
On a warm autumn day in 1986, while enjoying beer with my college buddies,
I decided to join my new homeland.

I've come to appreciate the ideals that helped create this great country.
Liberalism, political-correctness, multiculturalism and moral equivalence
are destroying it.

Today's BOTW has three entries that are so on the mark. First, in another so called study a weight gain by black women is linked to perceived racism. But Taranto asks whether it's really racism or whether:
The researchers merely assume that if a black woman encounters someone who acts as if he is better than she, it must be because she is black, not because, say, he's a stuck-up jerk--or because she is oversensitive.
I face this every time I interact with a so called minority, even women. I'm a jerk and people who know me know that. But people who don't know me and who, like the women in this "study" may assume I'm acting the way I am because I'm racist, sexist, homophobe (I know it should be 'homophobic' but I like Rush too much to change his favorite phrase,) etc. So I change my behavior, which I think is more racist than just being myself. What irony!

Two, Obama (and to be fair, many of his predecessors) thinks that if Palestinians have their own land everything will be just honky dory in the Muslim world. But Taranto illustrates perfectly the stupidity of such thinking by quoting a young South Korean who seems somewhat worked out over North Korea's recent nuclear tests:
"We sent them food, fertilizer, factories, more than we give our own poor people," said the South Korean, Lee Soon-hwan, a 30-year-old office worker. "And all they pay us back with is this nuclear test."
Taranto concludes:
It sounds a lot like Israel's problems with the Palestinian Arabs. And as we all know, the solution to that problem is to give the Palestinians a state. Obviously, then, this problem can be solved by giving the Norks a state.

Oh, wait . . .

Indeed.

Many bloggers talk about the possibility that the vast majority of Chrysler dealerships that were ordered to close were run by people who contributed to Republicans, especially to John McCain.

At this point, I wouldn't surprise me if this were true; our President is clearly somebody who would consider this a legitimate way to fight the evil conservatives. And his supporters would obvioulsy would agree just as they agree that Sotomayor's racism and empathy is what is needed on the Supreme Court right now and following the Constitution and the law is secondary if not tertiary.

But a caller to a local radio talk show made a point that deserves some attention. Maybe the dealerships that are closing have been heavily advertising on the talk radio stations. If those dealerships are gone together with their advertising dollars they may take some of those stations with them.

Third, if Bush said this we would hear about it for the next 8 (minus ~130 days, thank God) :
"I think most Americans want someone at the bench when they're making decisions that haven't just spent their life in a cloistered ivy tower but understand what its like to break barriers."

It seems Obama nominated a self-proclaimed racist.

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life."

-Judge Sonia Sotomayor, in her Judge Mario G. Olmos Law and Cultural Diversity Lecture at the University of California (Berkeley) School of Law in 2001

Quote of the day:

We made one great mistake regarding Guantanamo: No terrorist should have made it that far. All but a handful of those grotesquely romanticized prisoners should have been killed on the battlefield.

The few kept alive for their intelligence value should have been interrogated secretly, then executed.

Terrorists don't have legal rights or human rights. By committing or abetting acts of terror against the innocent, they place themselves outside of humanity's borders. They must be hunted as man-killing animals.

Obama is a pathological liar? Well, that's news.

And if he succeeds (do you now understand what "I hope he fails" means?) we really will be out of money or even out of paper to print more of it. And, of course, health care will suck as it does in every single country when government gets involved.

This is why it's impossible to argue with a liberal. So many ideas are off the table that there is nothing left to discuss. It's almost as if liberals didn't want to be presented with facts, evidence, historical events, etc.

Many people have given their lives for this great country. Tadeusz Kosciuszko was one of them. There is a new book about him. There is a short excerpt from the book on NRO's website.

One wonders if that Pole, like me, would have been disappointed to see this country going to hell in a hand basket lead by our master Obama.

Quote of the day

"I wish the Democrats would put half as much energy into fighting terrorists as they do in fighting Dick Cheney."

Obama is bold

Obama wants to lower whatever he thinks cars produce that is bad for the environment.

Let me be bolder: I want to reduce whatever it is he thinks is bad even more. I'm not sure what it is; I don't care if it makes sense. I just want to be a president. And if to be one I have to call for some crazy goals that can't possibly be supported by science I'm the game. In fact, I'm all in.

What do I have to lose?

Obama calls for common ground on the abortion issue. He and countless other naive progressives call for common ground on Muslim/Israel-Palestine issues. Have they heard of principles?

I'm not surprised

A new Gallup Poll, conducted May 7-10, finds 51% of Americans calling themselves "pro-life" on the issue of abortion and 42% "pro-choice." This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this question in 1995.
Makes sense. The other side is killing its members.

Obama is a lair. But you knew that, didn't you? This video is just devastating. It proves beyond a doubt that Democrats are about power only and couldn't care less about people. They use people almost as Palestinian terrorists in Gaza use civilians: human shields.

I guess he saw the video and decided to at least fund the children who are already there. I'm not sure if this will happen since the money is appropriated in the house. The question is why? Why fund something that you think doesn't work. Or maybe it does and you are afraid to face the parents whose children are the lucky few able to escape the most expensive and the most disastrous government schools in the US. Those parents, after all, voted for you and hoped the change you had promised didn't involve destroying their children's lives. And if it doesn't work, why do you send your daughters there? Hopenchange = hypocrisy. You are such a loser, Obama.

I'm not sure what I would have done if I had been that oil tanker's captain. It's almost like releasing terrorists from Gitmo to then find them again on a battle field.

It's official. We live in a fascist state. How ironic that people who accused Bush of the same are now silent. The ones who want to resist are bullied into compliance.
