WUI (Writing under the influence)

Somebody once said we are all Americans, sometimes born in the wrong places.
On a warm autumn day in 1986, while enjoying beer with my college buddies,
I decided to join my new homeland.

I've come to appreciate the ideals that helped create this great country.
Liberalism, political-correctness, multiculturalism and moral equivalence
are destroying it.

20

On February 19th, 1987, I and my best friend left Poland. As far as I was concerned, there was no going back. After 20 years, we are still here, in the US, and the last time I checked, we are not going back. We must be part of some right-wing conspiracy.

Comments:
You give yourself too much credit. The right-wing conspiracy folks are shady behind the scenes goons that wear hats and trenchcoats (a la Jack Abramoff) not misguided bloggers who can't seem to get their math right.
Let's see 1997 - 2007 \= 20 years.
Unless that's the conspiracy you speak of, the disregard of most right wing conservatives for the education system (unless God is involved of course). After all by dumbing down the population it makes it easier for "right wing conspiracies" to occur (eg. easier to control the population).
Here's a suggestion, education spending = Americans better at math :)

Zak-Here's a suggestion, education spending = Americans better at reading :)
The post said:"On February 19th, 1987, I and my best friend left Poland." That's 1987, not 1997, unless it was edited.

I did edit the post. First, I added an UPDATE post scriptum where I corrected the typo. But Jak is a troll so to irritate him a little I deleted the UPDATE. In any case, I should thank Jak for bringing the typo to my attention.
I know how important integrity is in the blogosphere. And I agree.

With the American government-school industrial complex spending more per pupil then only one other country, we should all be geniuses, right? Fortunately, I learned math in a country where attention was given only to people who could succeed. And that is the solution we should pursue. That's exactly what China, India, Korea and others do. They don't care about children feeling good about themselves. That only gets you food stamps.

I am a troll PI? In what way sir?
I try to discuss and bring another view than yours, and I'm very surprised at bobkat's comment as it's the only comment other than mine I've seen on your blog in some time. So by bringing another point of view to the table I'm branded a troll? Or is my trollness based upon this one post pointing out a mathematical error? In that case I'm glad I've shown restraint in not mentioning the errant use of the English language displayed on the blog.
Irritate me? No sir, while your views and opinions may occasionally bring about that emotion, a right wing cover up is what I expect :p
PI, may I make another suggestion? If you're wanting to simply spew forth your points of view and you don't wish for opposing views or discussions to take place then simply don't allow comments on your blog. It honestly wouldn't make too much of a difference now would it :)
ps. bobkat: Zak = Jak. Yes, Americans better at reading would be a good thing imo.

The comments are on because I do welcome comments. Please, correct my English and my math; my math was good, of course – it’s been 20 years. Although I don't need government to print any documents for me in Polish to apply for driver license or to file a permit to alter an electric circuit in my house (that’s as much government as I need), I know that I still haven't mastered the language of my new step-motherland.

I called you a troll maybe because you don't bring opposing views but only opposing invective. How about some data, facts? Since I know I'm right I'm not afraid of an honest exchange. But facts only please. No more Bush-lied-people-died crap, OK?

Lastly, I don’t have time or aspiration to keep a blog that would bring a lot of readers willing to comment. I started this blog just before the 2004 elections so I could vent a little.

jak-my apologies. Point taken. Keep on keepin on.
