WUI (Writing under the influence)

Somebody once said we are all Americans, sometimes born in the wrong places.
On a warm autumn day in 1986, while enjoying beer with my college buddies,
I decided to join my new homeland.

I've come to appreciate the ideals that helped create this great country.
Liberalism, political-correctness, multiculturalism and moral equivalence
are destroying it.

Let me be first...

...to predict that sometime between July 8th when Bush
comes back from Europe and September a liberal
cartoonist will draw 9 Iranian mullahs in robes worn
normally by the justices of the US Supreme Court and
call it Bush's Court.

I think this will happen no matter whom Bush
nominates. The chances of this happening will be
close to 100% if he nominates a black woman, say,
Janice Rogers Brown.

Yahk che masch, Polish Imigrant? (Please forgive my made-up spelling as I only know the phrase as-spoken.)

I found your blog when a fellow blogger linked to this post on our blog, www.threesources.com. And, in five minutes, I consider you a friend. (See, sometimes adults can become friends instantly too.)

As for your prediction, I think such a cartoon would include recognizable representatives of MANY religious faiths, but I get your point.

Your mention of judge Brown is appreciated. She is my dream candidate for the court (see: http://www.threesources.com/archives/001708.html) although I predict Alberto Gonzales will get the nomination for this vacancy.

Cheers friend.
Jak się masz?

Thanks for stopping by. I've looked over your blog and it seems very interesting.

Thinking more about the nomination, I've started having some doubts whether Brown would be the best candidate. As Hugh says, she has no experience and Bush may make the same mistake Reagan did when he nominated O'Connor. Reagan may have thought he needed to promise he would nominate a woman to get elected. Once elected, he had to keep his word. At the time, O'Connor was the best he could find.

In any case, I stand by my prediction.
Dobje! (sp?)

"No experience?" 28 years including 9 on the CA Supreme Court is good enough fo me. And in the last year she wrote more opinions than any other CA justice. I won't claim to be a complete expert on the jurisprudence of JRB, but I'm convinced she'd be no Sandra O'Connor.

All predictions at this point are just for fun anyway, but I'm incredibly pleased the nomination will be made by GWB instead of JFK.

I was talking about federal experience. But you are not the only one who thinks she would be a good candidate. The Power Line guys also think she may be the one. Who am I to disagree?
