WUI (Writing under the influence)

Somebody once said we are all Americans, sometimes born in the wrong places.
On a warm autumn day in 1986, while enjoying beer with my college buddies,
I decided to join my new homeland.

I've come to appreciate the ideals that helped create this great country.
Liberalism, political-correctness, multiculturalism and moral equivalence
are destroying it.

Poland being sold by another progressive?

When FDR sold Poland to Stalin in 1945 many believed he had no choice. I used to think the same but studying the US history helped me understand that FDR actually liked both Stalin and Mussolini. So now I'm almost convinced that FDR wanted Staling to be his friend and Poland was simply a gift.

And so Poland lived under the Soviet rule for 50 years.

Poland is now one of the fastest growing economies (and free at the same time unlike China, for example) and Obama seems to be making his damnest to stop it lest people figure out that capitalism real free-market -- unlike his crony green capitalism -- actually does work.

So now he tells Medvedev that he will let Soviets do whatever they want to do but he needs his space before the election so he is not faced with difficult decisions. After the election he will just close his eyes (or not; he may actually enjoy the view) and let Soviets threaten Poland while he pretends he can't do much and blame it on Bush.

BTW, Poles feel betrayed not just by FDR but also by Churchill which hurts even more. First, Churchill was supposed to be an enemy of communism unlike FDR. Second, Polish pilots may have saved England from German invasion. No wonder, this movie is not wildly distributed. You wouldn't want the people of England to feel sorry for the Polish plumber.

It's my right so you should pay

Bullets are becoming increasingly more expensive because there is a push to outlaw lead bullets and replace them with more expensive copper or other-metal bullets. Since the right to bear (and that means shoot., I hope) arms is guaranteed by the bill of rights, I hope Dems are forced to pay for my bullets. If they do, I will pay for their contraception.

On the further though, I will pay for their contraception regardless: the fewer, the better.

Oh, well.....

Thinking ouside the box

A very famous -- at least in this corner of the woods-- professor says that we should think "outside the box" and just impose even higher taxes on the most productive of us and spread the wealth around among various leaches and parasites, but more importantly, among the ruling class whose insane ideas, like libraries, swimming pools, and light-rail suck our resources dry.

Instead of looking for

For all his immense wisdom (mostly university education) the professor doesn't want to acknowledge that his ideas lead to ruin. This piece in WSJ warns us that if we listen to professors, we will end up like Greece or California:

Partly due to generous union wages and benefits, inflexible work rules and lobbying for more spending, many state programs and institutions spend too much and achieve too little. For example, annual spending on each California prison inmate is equal to an entire middle-income family's after-tax income. Many of California's K-12 public schools rank poorly on standardized tests. The unfunded pension and retiree health-care liabilities of workers in the state-run Calpers system, which includes teachers and university personnel, totals around $250 billion.

Culture wars

Some progressives ask me how the gay marriage would ruin mine. I tell them it is not about me but about the future generations. Of course, my marriage will not be affected by any misguided policy our wise leaders come up with. But, over time, watering down what has been, for centuries, the fundamental building block of any successful society will chip it apart. Needless to say, they refuse to listen.

But when it comes to abortion, progressives, all of a sudden, change their minds. Apparently, even women who, without a very expensive medical intervention, can't possibly become pregnant, fight to the death to preserve the obscene right to abort their children until the last moment before they can take their first breath.

And why? To preserve that sacred "right" for their daughters (if then didn't abort hem.)

Here is the face of that "struggle:"

This 53-year-old crazy woman thinks that administering an ultrasound -- yes, I know, it is in most cases a very intrusive ultrasound; but isn't abortion intrusive? -- to women who are about to terminate a human life is comparable to a rape.

My question to her is: how will this law affect you? You can't possibly become pregnant. Not just becauseof your age; there are only so many blind men.
